Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, falls on 1 December 2020.

GiveBack2020 is an initiative by Giving Tuesday to help give back to charities towards the end of this challenging year. Whether you have benefited from a charity directly or know someone who has, it is your chance to contribute to something positive and give back in some way. Charities have continued to provide information, support and resources throughout the pandemic, and now is your chance to say thank you.

How can you GiveBack to ARC?

Can you help us raise £1750, the cost of running our national helpline for one week?

Since lockdown began on 16 March 2020, we have spoken to thousands of expectant and bereaved parents and healthcare professionals through our telephone helpline and email. This has all been done with limited access to the office. 

Around 800,000 women in the UK become pregnant each year. More than 40,000 will be told there is a chance their baby has a genetic or structural condition. Naturally, this can cause a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty. Most parents will ultimately be reassured the pregnancy is progressing as expected. Sadly, some will receive the devastating news that their baby has a serious, sometimes lethal condition or might be told that the outlook is very uncertain.

ARC offers non-directive information and support to parents before, during and after antenatal screening; when they are told their baby has an anomaly; when they are making difficult decisions about continuing with or ending a pregnancy, and when they are coping with complex and painful issues after making a decision, including bereavement. 

Demand for our services has remained constant during the pandemic. We want to ensure that we can continue to provide vital information and support to parents, family and friends, and healthcare professionals for many years to come.

Why just one week of helpline costs? Charities have been hit particularly hard during the pandemic, but so have many individuals. We understand it might not be possible for everyone to donate this year. Please only donate if you are able to. There are plenty of other ways you can support us.
